Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a quiet area of Montreal Island known as West Island. People unfamiliar with the term often think that there is a separate island in the west of Montreal However, in reality this part of West Island is home to everything from the Lachine city. Lachine west. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time was not long in the city. Brugel grew to be a woman of a certain age living in Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. She was determined to be professional, however because of a huge expansion, she surpassed every dance partner she met. In an article in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6'1 inch. The moment I outgrew the size of my male companion, I stopped. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in the instance of Brugel,, it was the result of a recommendation from her drama teacher. Teacher who recommended she try to find a role in school's annual play. She auditioned and ended up playing the role of the main character in Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned the Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2000. Her career spans 20 years and she has performed in more than 60 shows, both on big screens as well as smaller screens. The most well-known role she played was that of Rita (pictured below) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel played the role of Rita in the Handmaid's Tale the series filming over 10 years ago.
